Students Receive High Honors at La Roche College

Honors Students 2015

PITTSBURGH, April 29, 2015 – Five graduating seniors at La Roche University received departmental honors at the annual Honors Convocation on Tuesday, April 28.

Each year La Roche honors students who have demonstrated excellence in their chosen fields of academic endeavor. The attainment of such honors signifies the highest approbation the University can bestow upon the outstanding student and is considered a reflection of mutual scholarly attainment by both the student and the University community. Under the direction and guidance of a committee of La Roche faculty, students conduct research, write and present their theses at the University’s annual Honors Convocation.

These students presented the following projects at the 2015 Honors Convocation:

Amanda Worsley of McCandless Township, Pa.
“Maternal Incarceration"
Honors in Psychology

Kaylee Zozos of Pittsburgh, Pa.
“Rebelling Women: Developing a Brand Identity for the PA Rebellion and Women’s Professional Softball”
Honors in Communications, Media & Technology

Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer Howard Ishiyama, Ph.D., said, “Presenting original research is a commendable accomplishment. Honor students at La Roche University set the standard for excellence, and we congratulate these outstanding seniors for achieving greater academic success. The high quality of their work is certainly worthy of our recognition.”

The Honors Institute at La Roche cultivates intellectual discourse and promotes scholarly achievement. Designed for exemplary students, the program embraces challenges and provides outstanding educational opportunities that will serve as a pathway to a successful future.

Through a combination of distinctive and demanding classes, the Institute offers highly capable and motivated students the opportunity to strive for even greater academic achievement. The Honors Institute also embraces education outside of the classroom by offering a range of structured, co-curricular activities that encourage students to connect their coursework to the world around them.

Supporting the La Roche Mission, the Honors Institute seeks to broaden and deepen academic excellence, and introduces students to alternative viewpoints, contemporary social issues and the call to better the world.
