Literary Society at La Roche College to Present Evenings of Music and Mystery

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 6, 2015 – The La Roche University Literary Society invites the public to a free, on-campus series featuring live music, book readings and dance performances.

“Faith in the Footlights”
Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
Zappala College Center Square

Presented by Father Peter Horton, former La Roche campus minister, this discussion will explore the spirituality found in American musicals and compositions. The evening will feature live performances by choir members and Director of Liturgy Diane Falvo of St. Winifred’s Church in Mt. Lebanon.

“Haunted Roads”
Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
Ryan Room, Zappala College Center

La Roche Adjunct Professor and Duquesne University Archivist Thomas White ’97 will discuss his latest book, “Haunted Roads.” Published in 2015 by Arcadia Publishing and co-authored by Mr. White and Tony Lavorgne, the book is study of the mysterious history and legends of Western Pennsylvania’s roads. An induction ceremony for Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, will take place before this presentation.

“Dance Before the Lord: A History of Gospel Music and Liturgical Dance”
Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m.
Zappala College Center Square

The Literary Society season will close with Greer Reed, founding artistic director of Reed Dance Ensemble, a senior in the La Roche Performing Arts Department and a teaching artist within the program. The evening will include a spiritual dance performance by Ms. Greer and her young troupe of dancers.
