_____________________________________________________________

The Project Achievement/Act 101 Program began at La Roche College in 1977 to provide academic support services to a small number of students. Since then it has grown in membership and scope. We support the total development of students including academic, social, leadership, and personal growth. The program is supported by funding from the college and through the Pennsylvania State Act 101 Grant.

Incorporated into the program are such services as free tutoring, workshops, advising, cultural and other special benefits, and activities to facilitate the development of leadership, planning, organization and social skills. They year round tutoring services are free and available to all La Roche students.

The program encourages students to develop leadership and teamwork skills through participation in the activities of the Student Executive Board (SEB). The SEB includes elected officers who represent Project Achievement/Act 101 in student government. Among the variety of activities planned and carried out by the Board are: a regularly published student-written newsletter; a program of cultural activities and outings designed to broaden students' experience; a community service program which collects toys for the needy children at Christmas; a civic program which has held a voter registration drive, fundraisers, and dances; and an Award's Night at the end of the school year to recognize the academic and service achievements of the Project Achievement/Act 101 students.
