Lance Shaeffer

Lance Shaeffer has held the responsibility for the Academic Enrichment Division since October of 1999, and after coming to the college in 1997 to create and establish the Center for International Business and Culture. He teaches business courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Lance came to the college from the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, where he held several positions including the position of CEO. He has a B.A. in Philosophy and German from Drury University and a M.S. in Human Resource Management from La Roche. He is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, Year II. He completed Supplemental Instruction Supervision Training at the University of Missouri in Kansas City .
Hamdi Bata

Hamdi Bata is the Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Coordinator for the Academic Enrichment Division. His office is located in Bold Hall, Room 254.
Hamdi came to La Roche College on a scholarship from his home country Jordan . He has been involved at many different levels in the College. In addition to being a student, he assisted students in all levels of math, computer information systems and cyberspace as a tutor. Hamdi also, administered math and computer labs, and was a Supplementary Instructor for various courses. Moreover, he worked in the Public Safety department.
He is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating peer, para-professional, professional tutors, Math, and all the other Supplementary Instruction Leaders. He serves as liaison between students and Tutors/SI Leaders, and between students, tutors/SI Leaders and faculty. Moreover, he develops new and efficient training material and learning environments.
Hamdi has a B.S. in International Management and Computer Information Systems and a M.S. in Human Resource Management.

Sr. Sally Witt, a Sister of St. Joseph, started at La Roche College as an adjunct in the History Department in 1995. She has been director of Community Outreach since 1999. Her responsibilities include direction of Challenge, a program of enrichment for local Catholic elementary schools, and Scholar, the Concurrent enrollment partnership between La Roche College and high schools in Western Pennsylvania . Sr. Sally is the author of Sisters of the North Country; The History of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, Watertown, New York (NY: Sisters of St. Joseph, Watertown, NY, 2005).
Diana Forsythe

Diana Forsythe is the Office Manager for the Division and ACT 101. Her office is located in the bottom of Wright Library, Room 127.
She comes to our department from freshman admissions, also having worked in graduate admissions and financial aid office at La Roche College. Her past experience as assistant vice president of customer relations for a major mortgage banking firm helps her assist students and parents as needed. You will see Diana administering placement tests, providing students with special needs their appropriate accommodations and keeping faculty informed as to what needs these students may have. She provides contact for students trying to apply to be a tutor, to sign up for tutoring or to meet with staff members of the department. Additional responsibilities include completing registration for Challenge and Scholar students in our Community Outreach program.
