This program prepares the student for a career as a teacher of English at the secondary level. A student will seek PA Department of Education Secondary Certification. Students must meet all of the competency standards set by the PA Department of Education, and they must pass the PRAXIS Test 1 and 2. Students must also maintain the following QPA requirement of 3.0 QPA for entrance and exit.To successfully complete the Engish secondary education major, the following coursework is required:
45 English credits as listed under major requirements40 Education credits as listed under Education Requirements12 credits of required coursework in Psychology and Mathematics31 CORE/General Elective credits.A minimum of 127 credits is required for degree, the last 30 of which must be taken at La Roche.
