Conducting a college search can be
a daunting task for a parent. You want to make sure that
your child attends a school that will meet his or her academic,
social and emotional needs. You want your son or daughter
to be safe, to be challenged intellectually, and to graduate
with a degree that will help him or her secure a future
full of promise. You also realize that paying for college
is no easy task, even if you have been saving money for
some time.
At La Roche College, we
are committed to helping you fully understand what we
have to offer and how we can assist you in financing your
son or daughter's education.
We pride ourselves on individualized
attention - in the Office of Admissions, in the Registrar's
Office, on the athletic field and in the classroom. We
want you to ask questions. We'll help you find the answers.
Founded by the Sisters of Divine Providence
in 1963, La Roche College is a private, Catholic, coeducational
liberal arts institution that prides itself on molding
students into lifelong learners.
We have created a global community of learners
from across the nation and around the world.
We've developed our curriculum to help
your son or daughter acquire the crucial skills necessary
to succeed in their chosen career, but we believe that
is not enough. We want your son or daughter to learn how
to write and think critically and to understand other
cultures.
La Roche College offers more than 50
undergraduate degree programs and three master's degree
programs - everything from chemistry, biology, history
and psychology to information technology, graphic design
and real estate. Our faculty members are leaders in their
field and include a former FBI agent, an award-winning
chemist and a Fulbright Scholar.
Our class sizes are small,
allowing for one-on-one attention and discussion.
We also have plenty of support services, including individualized
advising. In addition, students can utilize the services
of the Writer's Center. Professional writers can offer
them tips, suggestions and assistance when they are working
on a project or a term paper.
Your son or daughter will also have
the latest technology at their fingertips. They'll be
attending classes in our new state-of-the-art "smart"
classrooms, which are wired for Internet access, data
transmission, telecommunications and cable TV.
When students enroll at La Roche College,
they become a members of a vibrant campus community filled
with opportunities. We have ten varsity sports, including
basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball
and volleyball. Students can choose to join one of 30
organizations and clubs, write for the student newspaper
or become a member of the Student Government Association
(SGA).
Our four residence halls are wired for
Internet access, and many of them have apartment-style
suites that include a bathroom, microwave and refrigerator
right in your son or daughter's room. Our beautiful suburban
campus has a full-service bookstore with a coffee bar,
a fitness center, full dining facilities and a take-out
Chinese restaurant.
La Roche was ranked as one of the safest college campuses
in the United States recently.
The APBnews.com/CAP Index study looked
at nearly 1,500 four-year colleges for the survey. The
campus is close to a number of restaurants, parks and
theaters and is minutes from Pittsburgh, PA.
Ninety-four percent of our students
receive some form of financial aid - scholarships, grants,
loans or work-study. The average financial aid package
totals $13,000. La Roche offers scholarships ranging from
$2,000 to $4,500 based on your academic record. If you
meet certain eligibility requirements, you could receive
as much as $18,000 in scholarship money over the course
of four years from La Roche alone.
