The La Roche College women's soccer team expects to follow tradition this year by competing once again for the top spot in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). With a strong group of returning players and a talented class of incoming freshmen, Coach Miguel Lozano and the Redhawks have high expectations for this season.
2006 AMCC 2 nd Team All-Conference Sophomore defender Jessica Leo - (Freedom, PA) Ambridge H.S., will anchor La Roche's defense, with returning players Caitlin Goodwin, SR - (Pittsburgh, PA) Seton LaSalle H.S.; Melissa Marsico, SR -
(Pittsburgh, PA) Fox Chapel H.S. New additions to this talented Redhawk defense are returning players Candice Snyder, JR - (Natrona Heights, PA) Highlands H.S. and Kelly Katchmark, FR – (Freedom, PA) Ambridge H.S.
In addition to 2004 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and 2005/06 AMCC All-Conference Senior Midfielder Nicole Booth, - (Pittsburgh , PA) Brashear H.S., an outstanding group of midfielders will lead the Redhawks including returning players, Michelle Steele SO- (Pittsburgh , PA) Schenley H.S; Stephanie Bacon, SR - (Gibsonia , PA) Pine Richland H.S.; Patricia Miksa, SR - (Pittsburgh , PA) Perry H.S., and Jemma Devlin (Pittsburgh, PA) Canevin H.S. will all be a strong presence in the Redhawk's midfield, welcoming two new freshmen, Stephanie Keklak (Johnstown, PA) Westmont Hilltop H.S. and center-mid Katelyn Gill (Gibsonia, PA) Pine-Richland H.S. Katelyn helped Pine Richland High School win WPIAL titles and a PIAA State Championship (2005).
Sophomore forwards Cristina Perrelli - (White Oak, PA) McKeesport H. S. and 2006 AMCC 2 nd Team All-Conference Sophomore forward LaRissa Pallone - (Pittsburgh , PA) Perry H. S., will contribute to the Redhawks' attack, joined this season by junior transfer Caitlin Bahr (Pittsburgh, PA) Mt. Lebanon H.S. and Devon Brooks (Venetia, PA) Peters Twp. H.S.
Sophomore goal keeper Gina Caracci - (Hermitage, PA) Hickory H.S. will join experience returning junior goal keeper Stephanie Long, (Irwin, PA) Penn Trafford H.S.
With eleven consecutive conference playoff appearances in the program's eleven-year history, including a bid to the 2002 and 2004 ECAC playoffs, the Lady Redhawks are determined to extend their winning tradition.

About the Coach...

Miguel Lozano played soccer in his native Spain as a youth and also at the semi-pro level in Mallorca (Spain). His passion for the game shows very quickly when you ask him about his favorite team "Real Madrid". Lozano still plays on local indoor and outdoor teams.
Lozano holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "B" license, a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Diploma and a referee's license from PA West.
He has coached at all youth levels for North Hills Soccer Club (NHSC) since 1986. As a coach for the Pittsburgh Strikers Soccer Club, his team won State Championships in 1995 and 1996. In 1996, his team won the prestigious Continental Alliance Tournament (NIKE CUP) in Philadelphia. His teams have played in tournament finals in Eastern and Western Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois and Ohio.
Lozano is the Head Women's Soccer Coach at La Roche College. in 2002 the team finished second in it's conference with a record of 16-4-3, the best in school history, Lozano was also named in 1998 and 2002 AMCC Coach of the Year. Lozano, 9 year record at La Roche College (116-52-10) is currently 45th on NCAA Division III All-Time Women's Soccer Coaching list with a .680 winning percentage.
In his spare time, he coaches a U-11 and U-14 Girls Cup Team for IFC. He has been a PA West ODP staff coach since 1994 and in 1998 was named to the Region I Coaching Staff.
Lozano and his wife, Lisa, reside in the North Hills of Pittsburgh with their daughters, Gloria, 25, and Marisa, 20.
