An Inside Look at This Year's La Roche College Women's Soccer Team
La Roche’s women’s soccer team approaches the 2009 season stronger than ever, returning ten starters and welcoming a strong group of local newcomers to a solid and promising team.
2006/07/08 AMCC All-Conference senior defender Jessica Leo - (Freedom, PA) Ambridge H.S. will anchor La Roche's defense, with returning starters Kelly Katchmark, JR - (Freedom, PA) Ambridge H.S. and Stephanie Keklak, JR - (Johnstown, PA) Westmont Hilltop H.S.
At center-mid with a strong presence, Katelyn Gill, JR - (Gibsonia, PA) Pine-Richland H.S., and an outstanding group of midfielders will lead the Redhawks including returning players, 2008 AMCC All-Conference senior LaRissa Pallone - (Pittsburgh , PA) Perry H.S.; Michelle Steele, SR - (Pittsburgh, PA) Schenley H.S. and Erica Pitacciato , SO - (Pittsburgh, PA) Penn Hills H.S.
2008 AMCC All-Conference senior forward Cristina Perrelli - (White Oak, PA) McKeesport H.S., will lead the Redhawks' attack, joined this season by returning sophomore, Lauren Neville - (Oakland, MD) Southern Garrett H.S.
La Roche’s two talented and experienced goalkeepers are also returning. 2008 AMCC All-Conference sophomore goal keeper Ralene Zajac - (Freedom, PA) Freedom H.S. and Sara Paden, SO - (New Castle, PA) Mohawk H.S.
The Redhawks welcome freshman high school standouts Bethanie Moreschi – (Pittsburgh, PA) North Hills H.S.; Kayla Coyne – (Pittsburgh, PA) Chartiers Valley H.S.; Katherine Golebie – (West Mifflin, PA) West Mifflin H.S.; Morgan Whitney - (West Mifflin, PA) West Mifflin H.S., and Stephanie Graf – (Pittsburgh, PA) North Allegheny H.S.
Four transferred players are also bringing soccer experience to the team, Marina Mattone – (Tarentum, PA); Chelsea Burns – (Pittsburgh, PA); LaRissa Davis – (Casa Grande, AZ), and Ines Kibelolaud – ( Verona, PA).
With twelve consecutive conference playoff appearances in the program's thirteen-year history, including a bid to the 2002 and 2004 ECAC playoffs, the Lady Redhawks are determined to extend their winning tradition.
We anticipate another successful fall season.

About the Coach...

Miguel Lozano enters his 13th season as the head coach of the La Roche College women's soccer team, making him the longest-tenured among AMCC women’s soccer coaches.
During his 12 years of coaching college soccer, Miguel has established himself as one of the sport's most consistent winners. He has averaged more than 13 wins a season in his career, sporting a 150-76-14 (.655) lifetime coaching record. The 150 wins and .655 winning percentage rank among the all-time leaders of coaches with a minimum of 10 years at an NCAA Division III school.
In his career, Miguel has coached his teams into AMCC post-season play all 12 years, including two appearances in the AMCC Championship game. In 2002, The Redhawks posted the best regular season record and hosted the AMCC tournament.
Miguel’s list of accomplishments is impressive. In his 12 years of coaching at La Roche, 57 players have won all-conference honors, including two Newcomers of the Year, two conference MVPs and two AMCC Coach of The Year awards.
Miguel engages in numerous soccer activities in addition to his coaching role at La Roche. He is the co-founder of FC Pittsburgh, a youth soccer club dedicated to serving the needs of the committed soccer player through high-quality instruction and coaching. He is also the director of the UPMC Passavant / La Roche College Youth Soccer Camps. Earlier in his coaching career, he coached at all youth levels for North Hills Soccer Club (NHSC), and as a coach for the Pittsburgh Strikers Soccer Club, his team won State Championships in 1995 and 1996.
In 1996, his team won the prestigious Continental Alliance Tournament (NIKE CUP) in Philadelphia. His youth teams have played in tournament finals in eastern and western Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois and Ohio. Miguel was also a member of the PA West and the Region 1 Olympic Development Program regional coaching staff.
