The annual La Roche College Founders Gala benefits the President’s Fund for Excellence, established to provide the extra edge of excellence that makes a difference to the College and its students by funding scholarships, academic programs and much more.
At this annual event, we bestow our prestigious Ad Lucem Award. This award, which takes its name from the Latin words, “ad lucem,” meaning “to light,” recognizes individuals whose vision, leadership and determination have transformed their dreams into reality and illuminated a new path, resulting in positive and lasting contributions to society, the community and the professions. Recipients of the Ad Lucem Award also most closely exemplify the mission of La Roche College to educate future leaders and to promote peace and justice in a changing global society.
Therefore, it our distinct honor and privilege to formally acknowledge the indelible contributions of Bill Strickland with the presentation of the 2012 Ad Lucem Award at this year’s Founders Gala. Bill has generously served the underserved, the unemployed and the underemployed of the Pittsburgh region for more than four decades, beginning with his founding of the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild and later with his leadership of the Manchester Bidwell Corporation. As a result, thousands of people have been inspired and empowered to achieve their greatest potential.
We hope you will join us as we acknowledge the remarkable service and compassion of this visionary member of our community. Also, through your support of this event — our seventh annual Founders Gala — you will make a substantial impact on La Roche College’s ability to provide the funding needed for scholarships, technology, program development and student services. We are extremely grateful to our generous donors who make it all possible.
Sincerely,

Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D.
