Accounting

Mark Dawson, MMA, CPA, is an associate professor in accounting and serves as the Accounting & Finance Department chairman. He has concentrated his efforts during the past five years on reorganizing the accounting program at La Roche College. He continues to serve as an accounting professional, maintaining his CPA certification and completing 80 hours of continuing professional education seminars in relation to this certification. Professor Dawson also remains up-to-date with all the recent developments in his field pertaining to accounting software, ethical standards and other new developments. This is reflected in his innovative and timely approaches to teaching a variety of introductory and advanced accounting courses. Professor Dawson has worked as a reviewer and developer for several accounting textbooks published by Houghton Mifflin Company and was recognized as an award-winning teacher at both Indiana University of Pennsylvania and La Roche College.- Profile Page

Allan MacQuarrie, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, FHFMA teaches a variety of accounting courses, as well as concepts of financial analysis and budgeting in the Human Resources Management master's program at La Roche. Dr. MacQuarrie is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. He is also a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association and has earned accounting and finance certification, as well as physician practice financial management certification in the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Dr. MacQuarrie's research includes case studies, survey work and publications in healthcare financial management. His consulting work includes accounting information systems and healthcare financial management.

Sheila Mueller, MBA, CPA, is an assistant professor in the Accounting & Finance Department.  She earned her MBA from Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pa., after having earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from Point Park University.  She also is a certified public accountant and is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  She has been at La Roche College since April 2000 and became a full-time faculty member in August 2007.  Professor Mueller is the adviser of the Student Accounting Association and encourages her students to become involved in activities beyond the classroom that will lead to a well-rounded college experience.
