Why Accounting at La Roche?
Here are just a few of the comparative advantages of being an Accounting student at La Roche College:
- Individual Attention - Our classes are small, with generally fewer than 20 students per section. Classes of this size encourage more professor and student interaction. As a result, most of our graduates have overcome their fear of speaking among a group of people. Our students get an inordinate amount of individual attention outside the classroom setting. It is a common occurrence for students and faculty to have conversations in the hallways, on campus and in faculty members' offices. Our faculty members know your names and treat you with respect.
- Interaction with International Students - As our world becomes an interactive global marketplace, the benefit of having international students in our classrooms becomes more obvious. Our international students talk about their schooling prior to coming to La Roche, as well as business practices and social customs in their respective countries. Our domestic students value this opportunity to get to know someone their own age who grew up on the other side of the world.
- Study Assistance - Students are encouraged to seek out faculty members for assistance when having trouble with a topic, but there are also other options available for accounting students. Accounting students may visit the Accounting Lab, where trained individuals work with students on a one-on-one basis to help them master the theory and practice skills of any of our accounting courses. These tutorial programs are free to enrolled students.
- Individual Assistance with Career Preparation - Accounting students at
La Roche College not only receive career advice from faculty members, but through the Office of Career and Academic Advisement, students also get assistance in resume preparation and interview techniques. Workshops on these topics are offered on a recurring basis, and students also may schedule individual sessions for assistance in ways that are tailored especially for them.
- Internship and Placement Opportunities - Our students have the opportunity to earn college credit for accounting work done in the field. Our internship programs place students in public accounting firms, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, or in companies in private industry. Some internship interviews are conducted on campus, and others are arranged through what is known as the Accounting Consortium. The consortium links students to firms of all sizes in both the public and private accounting fields. Contacts such as these offer our accounting students a great amount of exposure to career opportunities.
