Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
with Forensic Science and Certificate in Criminalistics
Preparing students for a career in criminal investigation, the college offers a concentration in forensic science and certification in criminalistics. Students begin the program with a strong foundation of chemistry and biology and then acquire extensive experience with sophisticated instrumentation and modern methods of analysis.
La Roche faculty developed and shaped the program with recommendations and guidance from area chemists and biologists, as well as from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Forensic Labs in Quantico , Va. This allows students to learn the same modern crime-scene detection and evidence collecting methods that are used in solving some of today's most intriguing investigative puzzles and challenges.
Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive (Honors) Chemistry
Geared at shaping students for graduate work, admission to a professional school, teaching or entry into the chemical industry, this major provides additional laboratory time than the standard chemistry major and involves more advanced coursework.
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from La Roche College
and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh
Students choose this option to prepare for graduate work, admission to a professional school or entry into the chemical industry. Undergraduates who embark upon this track will have the prerequisites for admission to the University of Pittsburgh 's School of Engineering . Students completing this program typically spend three years at La Roche College and two years at the University of Pittsburgh .
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry from La Roche College
and a Master of Science in Environmental Science & Management from Duquesne University
This major is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in chemistry as it is applied to environmental science. It is a joint academic program between La Roche College and Duquesne University . Students complete three years of undergraduate study at La Roche and two years of graduate study in the Environmental Science & Management program at Duquesne.
