Degree Requirements
La Roche offers the BA degree and the BS degree in mathematics and the combined BS in mathematics from La Roche and BSE in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
The requirements of the BA in mathematics comprise:
- 46 credits in mathematics
- 8 credits in physics
- 34 or 31 credits in the core curriculum
- 32 or 35 general-elective credits
The requirements of the BS in mathematics comprise:
- 46 credits in mathematics
- 7 credits in computer science
- 12 credits in physics
- 34 or 31 credits in the core curriculum
- 21 or 24 general-elective credits
The ample number of general electives that both degree programs afford enables students to minor, if not major (in the case of the BA), in another academic area such as computer science or finance, to cite just two of the many possibilities. Of course, instead of minoring or majoring in another area, some students may simply want to explore the college curriculum on their own.
