Students who enroll at La Roche College in the fall will be paying a bit more for their education. In October, the College’s Board of Trustees approved a tuition increase for full-time undergraduate students from $12,790 to $15,220 per year. The new tuition rate will take effect at the beginning of the 2003-2004 academic year. The per-credit fee for part-time and graduate students will remain unchanged. In October, current and prospective students received a letter from the College detailing the change.

“We believe such an increase is crucial if we are to continue with our mission of preparing students for a 21st century global economy,” said Monsignor William A. Kerr, La Roche College president. “We have already undertaken initiatives to accomplish that mission, such as recruiting new full-time faculty who are leaders in their fields, establishing an endowed professorship in religious studies, and opening a new classroom building that features the latest innovations in ‘smart classroom’ instructional technology.”

Kerr noted that the increase will help secure the resources necessary to sustain the College’s endeavors and will allow La Roche to align its tuition with other private institutions in the region. Despite the increase, tuition at La Roche will remain below the average for private colleges and universities in Pennsylvania.
