COLLEGE TO OFFER ACT 48 WORKSHOP FOR PARAEDUCATORS
Pittsburgh, May 30 — At La Roche College, we are aware of the challenges paraeducators face as they prepare to meet federal and state requirements to become highly qualified. That is why we are offering the first in what could become a series of summer workshops designed to help paraeducators meet NCLB and IDEA requirements. The first workshop, “Foundations, Development and Characteristics of Learners,” is a five-day, 3-hour event that will be held at our conveniently located North Hills campus.
Workshop competencies are based on the Council for Exceptional children’s paraeducator standards. Each standard has a knowledge content and skill application. The CEC Performance-Based Standards for Paraeducators presented in this workshop are: Standard 1: Foundations and Standard 2: Development and Characteristics of Learners. Workshop activities include: problem solving, case studies, lectures, videos, discussions and written reflections.
Dates: June 19-23
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location: Ryan Room (located in the Zappala College Center Square on the College’s East side of campus)
Act 48 Fees: $200.00
