LOCAL STUDENT ARTISTS CREATE HOLIDAY APPEAL
Pittsburgh, Dec. 21, 2007 — Two area students helped to put their design education to good use this year by creating a winter fund appeal for the La Roche College Development Department.
The students, part of the college’s Graphic & Communications Design department, were chosen by faculty member George Founds to work on a design that would be featured on the annual winter appeal to fund donors. Working with La Roche staff member Kathy Corcoran, who oversees the annual appeal, the students chose to collaborate on a design rather than compete against each other, and the winning design appears on the winter appeal.
Sophomore Ruth Blum is a resident of Allison Park, Pa., where she was home-schooled through high school. Upon her graduation, she began attending La Roche and says that when she graduates with her degree, she hopes to pursue a career in graphic design and fine art.
Elisa Anderson graduated from Warren Area High School, Warren, Pa., in 2004 and attended Edinboro University for a year as a fine arts major. She is now finishing her bachelor's degree in Graphic & Communication Design at La Roche. Upon graduation, Elisa would like to continue her education and work in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia.
