“STRONG WOMEN OF BROADWAY” TO BE PRESENTED FRIDAY, MARCH 14, AT LA ROCHE COLLEGE
Pittsburgh, March 10, 2008 — As part of La Roche College’s ongoing Literary Society Series, Father Peter Horton will present "Strong Women of Broadway," which examines some of the most important and powerful women to grace the stage. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the College’s Zappala Center, main campus, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, McCandless.
Father Peter, former entertainment editor for The Pittsburgh Catholic and current director of Campus Ministry at La Roche, will take attendees through a history of Broadway legends, featuring performances of their show-stopping turns. The numbers are performed by vocalist Amanda Leight, a La Roche graduate, and pianist Min Cho, a senior music major from Duquesne University. Father Peter will share some theological insights, as well.
“From Auntie Mame challenging us to ‘Open a New Window’ to the haunting ‘I'm Still Hurting’ sung by Catherine in The Last Five Years, these remarkable women have both a message and a mission for us,” Father Peter noted. “They are characters who live their integrity and offer us new visions of faith, hope and love – all from the Broadway stage.”
The presentation is free and open to the public. For directions, visit www.laroche.edu.
