Pittsburgh, March 10, 2008 — La Roche College will be the site of a March 27 Peace Fair, featuring information from peace-seeking organizations throughout Pittsburgh. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public is invited to attend the fair and related lectures in the College Center Square and Ryan Room on La Roche’s main campus.
“Our goal is to provide information that helps people learn more about peaceful resolution – whether that is for the War in Iraq or other global conflicts,” said Janine Bayer, English professor at La Roche and one of the fair’s organizers.
Groups schedule to be at the fair are: American Friends Service Committee, CodePink Women Against War (Pittsburgh Chapter), Conscience, Pax Christi (Pittsburgh and Greensburg chapters), Physicians for Social Responsibility, Pittsburgh North People for Peace, the Raging Grannies, The Thomas Merton Center’s Anti-War Committee and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
The fair is produced by the Peace and Social Justice Committee at La Roche, and it is co-sponsored by the College’s Office of Campus Ministry, Political Science Club, Student Activities and Student Government Association, Pittsburgh North People for Peace and the Sisters of Divine Providence.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 412-536-1785 or send an e-mail to Janine.Bayer@laroche.edu.
