FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS CELEBRATION RETURNS TO LA ROCHE COLLEGE
Pittsburgh, November 18, 2008 — Now in its 13th year, the annual Festival of Lights celebration hosted by UPMC Passavant, the Sisters of the Divine Providence and La Roche College, will once again kick off the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 5, and will provide an evening of seasonal fun and entertainment.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, students from the Alpha School (owned by the Sisters of Divine Providence) will conduct the annual blessing of the La Roche College Christmas tree in the Zappala College Center Square at noon. The tree lighting ceremony is open to the public.
Friday’s events at the College will begin with the annual Theta Mu Craft Show from 3 to 9 p.m., in the Zappala College Center Square and will feature many local crafters. College alumni may attend their annual gathering from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the Cantellops Art Gallery, and business department students, faculty, staff and alumni will be welcomed at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cantellops Dining Hall.
Young visitors to the Festival of Lights celebration will also have plenty of activities to participate in on the La Roche College campus. From 5:30 to 8 p.m., there will be children’s crafts and games, airbrush tattoos, balloon figures, coloring, cookie decorating, and a visit from Santa Claus.
The evening will conclude with a Zambelli fireworks display at 8:15 p.m. Admission to the Festival of Lights celebration is free and open to the public; some refreshments will be available at a nominal fee. For more information, contact the La Roche College Office of Student Life at 412-536-1069.
