LA ROCHE COLLEGE FOUNDERS GALA WILL HONOR MASSARO FAMILY;BENEFIT SET FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 28, IN PITTSBURGH

2/5/2009

Pittsburgh, Feb. 5, 2009 — The Massaro Family has been chosen the recipient of the 2009 Ad Lucem Award, to be presented at the Fourth Annual La Roche College Founders Gala on Saturday, March 28, at the Westin Convention Center Hotel Ballroom in Pittsburgh. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The event, hosted by Honorary Chairs Ralph and Ruth Anne Papa, features the Ad Lucem Award ceremony, during which honorees are recognized because their vision, leadership and determination have transformed their dreams into reality. The award will be presented by La Roche College President Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D., on behalf of La Roche College and its board of trustees.

Known as founders or inventors, recipients of this award epitomize the meaning of the Latin words Ad Lucem or to light. “Each year, we have chosen recipients who embody the principles embraced by the founders of La Roche College – the Sisters of Divine Providence,” Sister Candace said. “We are honored to present the award to the Massaros, each of whom has positively affected the Pittsburgh region with their generosity and outreach efforts.”

Joe and Carol Massaro, both Pittsburgh natives, raised their family here and built a successful construction and real estate company that delivers quality building solutions within the tri-state area. Along with their four children, David, Joe, Linda and Steven, the Massaros are known for their service to and support for the community. The family members volunteer with numerous Pittsburgh organizations; several hold board memberships for those organizations, as well.

“In addition to giving of their time, through their family foundation and individual philanthropy, they have helped to make the region a better place to live and work,” noted Ralph Papa.

The Founders Gala is open to the public. To learn more about the event, sponsorship opportunities or obtaining tickets, go to www.laroche.edu/foundersgala, contact Director of Special Events Bobbi Kress LaPlace at bobbi.laplace@laroche.edu or call the Office of Special Events at 412-536-1087.
