PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES HOSTED AT LA ROCHE FOCUSES ON STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PROGRAMS
Pittsburgh, March 3, 2009 — In today’s business world, professionals often are asked to assess the strength of their companies’ diversity and inclusion programs. Even for human resources professionals, this can be a challenging task because, often, people are not trained in developing and measuring these programs. La Roche College is offering a seminar tailored to helping HR and other business professionals learn how to create and implement diversity metrics into their company’s strategic planning process.
The class will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, in the Ryan Room, Zappala College Center, on the college’s McCandless Township campus.
“Diversity Metrics: Does it add up?” will be presented by Astrid Kersten, Ph.D., SPHR, professor of management at La Roche College. The goal of the session is to teach participants to create a system of metrics that will allow them to clearly evaluate their company’s success with diversity and inclusion programs. This workshop will feature mini-cases, applied exercises, and an extensive listing of resources.
“We are sponsoring this session on diversity metrics and measurement because this is an area of increasing importance among organizations. We want to help people to learn how to align HR goals with organizational goals, helping HR professionals make a greater contribution to organizational success,” Dr. Kersten said. “Plus, this is an excellent opportunity for HR professionals to obtain continuing education credits in strategic management.”
Sponsored by the Department of Human Resource Management and Graduate Studies & Adult Education at La Roche, this lecture has been approved for two recertification hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
Light refreshments will be available during a 6:30 p.m. informal networking reception. The cost of the seminar is $15. For more information or to register, visit www.laroche.edu, call 412-536-1262 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
