SULLIVAN NAMED BOARD CHAIR AND DIVISION CHAIR, VINCENTIAN COLLABORATIVE SYSTEM AND LA ROCHE COLLEGE
Pittsburgh, Oct. 1, 2009 ó Kathleen A. Sullivan, Ph.D., RN., who earlier this year was named chair of the board of Vincentian Collaborative System (VCS), also was named the new division chair of the Education and Nursing departments at the college. Dr. Sullivan also serves as a nursing professor at La Roche.
A resident of Kennedy Township, Pa., Dr. Sullivan earned her bachelorís degree in nursing from Saint John College of Cleveland, Ohio. She earned both her masterís degree and doctorate in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and also performed post-graduate studies in community health nursing at La Roche College. She is a licensed registered nurse in Pennsylvania.
She joined La Roche in 1990 and became involved in the VCS when she became a college representative on its board in 2007. This year, she was named chair of the board of VCS, which operates four long-term care facilities in the Pittsburgh area. The groupís services were expanded recently by incorporating an outpatient rehabilitation center, a child-development center, and the Vincentian Charitable Foundation. In addition, this year VCS will be opening Vincentian Villa, an affordable independent living community, in the North Hills.
At La Roche, Dr. Sullivan will lead the academic advancement teams of both nursing and education, overseeing faculty, curriculum and other programs that help to enrich both academic programs for students in those majors.
