LA ROCHE COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT SLATED FOR SATURDAY, MAY 8
Pittsburgh, April 15, 2010 – La Roche College administration is pleased to announce the schedule of events honoring the 2010 graduating class. This year’s commencement will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center on the College’s McCandless Township main campus. Jean Forti, Ph.D., department chair of Human Resource Management and associate professor, will serve as this year’s student-elected faculty marshal.
The commencement address to La Roche’s 211 graduates and their guests will be presented by Luke L. Hingson, president of Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF), an international humanitarian aid organization dedicated to “Connecting People’s Resources with People’s Needs.” BBF helps people in more than 140 countries by working through partnerships with local agencies, government institutions, hospitals, universities, faith-based groups and social clubs. Under Mr. Hingson’s leadership, BBF has become one of the most efficient and effective non-profit organizations in the United States with low administration and fund-raising expenditures, as noted in Forbes Magazine, Chronicle of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Times.
Commencement Weekend will begin with Baccalaureate Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the Sisters of Divine Providence, Mother of Divine Providence Chapel. Graduates, families, friends, faculty, trustees and staff are invited to attend the mass. All graduates will process together.
Immediately following mass, a special awards lunch will be served in the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center. The College’s administration and faculty will pay tribute to and celebrate the achievements of the May graduates at the lunch.
