Pittsburgh, April 21, 2010 – La Roche College is pleased to announce that Sister Rita Yeasted, Ph.D., professor of English and department chair of English and Speech, was recently appointed to serve as a judge in the Achievement Awards Program for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

According to the NCTE’s website, the Achievement Awards Program is an NCTE-sponsored competition designed to honor eleventh-grade students in the United States, Canada and American schools abroad for excellence in writing. Each judge evaluates papers submitted in their state and will determine what nominees will be cited as excellent writers.

Since fall 1980, Sister Rita has been part of the La Roche community, where she is active in not only teaching, but also in community service, advising students and the La Roche College Literary Society.
