Pittsburgh, July 29, 2010 – La Roche College graduate and North Hills High School alum David A. Carey received the William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship to study at the American University in Dubai during summer 2009. David, who graduated with his bachelor’s degree in national security studies from La Roche in May, and five of his fellow scholars met former President Clinton in Washington, D.C., at a luncheon titled “Progress Matters” this spring. Clinton talked about key issues such as the Haiti earthquake, the economy, health care and education. He later greeted David and the other scholarship winners at the legendary Willard Intercontinental Hotel.

David was one of only eight students across the United States to be awarded the Clinton scholarship. It provided him a 100 percent tuition waiver at American University, where he arrived in early May 2009 and came home at the end of June. His scholarship covered courses in Arabic language and culture – two areas of study that will help him as he pursues his career.

David is a 2006 graduate of North Hills High School. He is the son of David and Deloris Carey of West View, Pa.
