Pittsburgh, PA – December 12, 2010 -The La Roche College chapter of Kappa Delta Epsilon (KDE), a national honorary educational society, raised more than $400 for Project Hope this semester.

Project Hope ( is a nonprofit organization that provides canvas tote bags full of supplies to parents with children in the intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

“When Kim Sebring, the founder of Project Hope, explained her mission at a KDE meeting, our members were motivated to support this worthwhile cause,” said Jen Celender, president of the La Roche College KDE Chapter.

KDE members organized two bake sales, a car wash, and a basket raffle to raise the funds. The money was used to purchase supplies and stuffed animals for the totes, which the KDE members assembled and donated to Project Hope. Jen added, “The KDE members are grateful for the support of the La Roche College community in their fundraising efforts.”

KDE members also volunteer each week at an after-school tutoring program at McKnight Elementary School.
