POSITIVE SPACE ART SHOW RETURNS TO LA ROCHE FOR 18TH YEAR
Pittsburgh, February 22, 2011 – The 18th Annual Positive Space art show and competition once again returns to La Roche College, debuting on March 3 and running through the end of the month in the Cantellops Art Gallery, inside the Zappala College Center on the College’s McCandless Township main campus. Positive Space is a student art showcase, featuring multiple design aesthetics in any field or major. Students from a variety of backgrounds who have taken at least one design-related course are encouraged to enter the show. Admission is free and open to the public.
Last year’s Positive Space art show had more than 200 student entries. Students enter their work into 10 different categories and winners are declared in: drawing and painting, package design, illustration, graphic design, 3D design, multimedia, typography, interior design, photography and new for 2011, green design. One student will receive the Best in Show award – the competition’s highest honor, sponsored by Howard Ishiyama, Ph.D., vice president of Academic Affairs at La Roche College.
The winners are determined by a panel of outside design professionals. The panel of judges evaluates the entries, declaring a first, second and third place winner in each category, as well as an honorable mention. Once the selections have been made, the items will then be on display in the gallery throughout the month.
