LA ROCHE COLLEGE HONORS 307 GRADUATES AT 46TH COMMENCEMENT MAY 7
Pittsburgh, April 28, 2011 – La Roche College’s 46th Commencement on Saturday, May 7, will honor 307 graduates. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center on the college’s McCandless Township campus. Michael Fetchko, J.D., assistant professor of marketing, will serve as this year’s student-elected faculty marshal.
The commencement address will be presented by Joyce Rothermel, the chief executive officer of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, southwestern Pennsylvania’s largest charitable hunger-relief organization, which she helped found. She has been both the visionary and the driving force behind fighting hunger in southwestern Pennsylvania for more than twenty-five years. Ms. Rothermel speaks eloquently about the problem of hunger, particularly for those who cannot speak for themselves, and inspires all she meets to take action against hunger. She will be awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters at the ceremony.
Commencement Weekend will begin with Baccalaureate Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Mother of Divine Providence Chapel of the Sisters of Divine Providence, adjacent to the La Roche campus. Graduates, families, friends, faculty, trustees and staff are invited to attend. Immediately following mass, the college’s administration and faculty will recognize the achievements of the May graduates at an honors luncheon.
