LA ROCHE COLLEGE INTERIOR DESIGN ADVISORY BOARD PRESENTS ANNUAL DESIGN DIALOGUE SERIES
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (September 9, 2011)— La Roche College and the Interior Design Advisory Board will hold its annual Design Dialogue Series on Thursday, October 6. Deborah Burnett of Design Service, Inc. will engage the audience in a discussion entitled “Good Design = Good Health: Focusing on Sleep, Design and Wellness.” The event, made possible by the Pittsburgh Design Community and the La Roche College Interior Design Advisory Board Fund Raising Campaign, will be held at the Carnegie Science Center.
“Deborah is recognized as a leading authority in the field of epigenetic design, which explores how the body and brain are affected by the interior environment,” says Cheryl McLaughlin, Interior Design Advisory Board member and chairman of the event. “Deborah’s focus is on light and the importance of adaptive light in all types of interior projects.” Burnett is a nationally recognized health and wellness design authority and has appeared on HGTV. She is also a licensed building contractor and chair holder of the Color Marketing Group. For her epigenetic design work and research, she has been accepted into the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and is a frequent presenter at professional conferences worldwide.
The dialogue will focus on understanding how the built environment affects our health and how spaces will be designed in the coming decades. Burnett will also discuss the impact of light, color, pattern, the importance of adaptive lighting and how the significance of this outlook can affect and enhance performance levels as well as overall health.
Tickets to the Design Dialogue are: $30 for general admission, $20 for La Roche alumni, and $15 for students.
