THIRD ANNUAL 5K RACE AT LA ROCHE COLLEGE SET FOR APRIL 21
RACE TO BE HELD ON FINAL DAY OF HOMECOMING WEEKEND 2013
PITTSBURGH, April 2, 2013 – La Roche College will hold a 5K race on the final day of its Homecoming Weekend 2013 celebration.
The 5K race is open to the public and will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 21. The course, which is mainly concrete, explores the best features of the La Roche campus and includes three major hills. The first three men and women contestants to finish will receive awards. Following the race, refreshments will be served, and runners will have access to shower facilities.
Participants who register in advance for only $15 receive a free t-shirt, but limited on-site registration also is available for $20 on the day of the race. Check-in and on-site registration will open at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center at the College’s main campus.
“All are welcome to this family friendly event. The third annual 5K race is for runners of all abilities,” said Jeff Dailey, assistant director of student development at La Roche College. “Although it is a timed race, it also is an opportunity for new runners to participate in a 5K where there is no pressure to keep up with other runners. The course takes participants all around the beautiful La Roche campus and adjoining property, and runners never have to run across a street or negotiate traffic. The race will start and finish in front of the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center. We ask participants to register online ahead of time so that we can properly prepare for their arrival.”
