PITTSBURGH, Aug. 20, 2013 – La Roche College revealed a new branding initiative today, as it launched an extensive multimedia marketing campaign designed to showcase the College’s rich heritage, varied academic offerings and commitment to global awareness.

“Engaging Minds. Embracing the World.” is the tagline of the College’s new logo, which includes a stylized fleur-de-lis placed within an archway, symbolic of the many archways found within the architecture across the campus.

“Since its founding 50 years ago, La Roche has been a collegiate community with a rich faith heritage and social justice mission,” La Roche President Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D., said. “We have long been known for our small class sizes and dedicated faculty and staff who engage students in pursuit of a practice-based education. With international enrollment at 20 percent of our student body, we are uniquely able to prepare our students for success in an ever-changing global economy. We have great pride in what we do and great humility in how much more we might yet accomplish. This new branding initiative will give us an ideal platform to tell our story.”

The branding initiative is the result of a two-year effort to re-imagine and redefine the La Roche brand. Research, analysis and testing involved current and prospective students, faculty and staff of the College, alumni, members of the board of trustees, as well as community leaders, friends and supporters.

The new logo and messaging will appear in an advertising campaign this fall utilizing outdoor, television, print and radio advertising, as well as social media. The College’s expanded and redesigned website will launch at a later date.

“The two-year process that led to this new branding allowed us to identify our strengths and distinctions and pinpoint our competitive niche in a crowded marketplace,” Brady Butler, La Roche director of marketing and media relations, said. “It became clear that the message of La Roche is that our campus is an inspiring place where minds and lives flourish at any age, where diversity is embraced, and where peace and social justice are pursued.”

The branding initiative was announced at the College’s Opening Assembly today, attended by all faculty and staff. The logo and tagline were unveiled within a video synced to music, confetti cannons and a student dance performance choreographed by Maria Caruso, MSPL, assistant professor and chair of the acclaimed La Roche performing arts department. Following the College’s Opening Assembly, faculty and staff were invited to a luncheon in the cafeteria where the creative concepts and messaging for the new brand were displayed.
