ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP DINNER A HUGE SUCCESS
Pittsburgh, February 25 – La Roche College raised more than $90,000 at the 7th annual Presidential Scholarship Dinner, held on February 24. More than 300 guests attended the dinner and silent auction at the Hilton Pittsburgh. The gala event is the principal fundraiser for the Presidential Scholarship Fund, which benefits academically gifted students at La Roche College.
Celebrity hostess for the evening was Sheila Hyland, weekday anchor for WPGH-TV. The keynote speaker was Jim Rohr, president, chairman and CEO of The PNC Financial Services Group. Also in attendance were: Mr. Peter Mulloney, chairman of the La Roche College Board of Trustees; Monsignor William Kerr, president of La Roche College; and Mrs. Dolores Bold, local philanthropist and friend of La Roche College. Co-chairpersons for the Presidential Scholarship Dinner were: Mrs. Carol Leet, vice president for strategic planning and implementation for The PNC Financial Services Group, accompanied by her husband, Kenneth D. Leet; and Mrs. Patricia Schneider, director of marketing and public relations for Bill Few Associates, accompanied by her husband, Mr. John Schneider, president of Bill Few Associates.
Among the items in the silent auction was a mother-of-pearl nativity scene in a red velvet case. The Palestine National Authority donated the nativity set, which was made in the Holy Land. Guests also placed bids on trips to Jordan, Hilton Head, SC, and Chicago.<
