Pittsburgh, May 17 – Sr. Carolyn Winschel, senior vice president of mission and planning, was honored with the “Woman of Providence” award at the College’s commencement on May 4. This award is given annually to a member of the Congregation of Divine Providence whose life of service as a part of the mission of the Congregation is a compelling example of God’s Providence made visible.

Winschel has her B.Ed. from Duquesne University, her M.Ed. from Pennsylvania State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. She first came to La Roche in 1975 as the assistant to the president. She was elected to the Provincial Council in 1980 and served as councilor, business manager, and later as the first development officer for the Congregation. She returned to La Roche in 1993 as executive vice president. In 2001, Winschel assumed her current title. She is also the assistant to the Divine Providence provincial director. Her continued interest and support of the students and mission of the College are appreciated by the entire La Roche community, and make her a “Woman of Providence.” <
