La Roche College will officially mark the completion of the classroom building connected to the Zappala College Center at a ceremony on August 26. The Most Reverend Donald W. Wuerl, STD, Bishop of Pittsburgh, will be on hand for the event, which begins at 10 a.m. Bishop Wuerl will then celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Zappala College Center Square at 11 a.m.

The building opening comes nearly a year after crews first broke ground for the $5.5 million structure connected to the Zappala College Center. A formal building dedication will be held later in the fall semester. The 33,000-square-foot building houses 13 general-purpose classrooms, two seminar rooms, 13 faculty offices, two computer laboratories and an enlarged College bookstore. Thanks to a federal grant awarded in January of this year, a dozen of the new classrooms will be wired for telecommunications, data transmissions, Internet access and cable television. <
