Ambassador Anthony E. Quainton received an honorary degree and delivered the Commencement Address during the ceremony. Quainton is currently Distinguished Diplomat in Residence at American University in Washington, D.C. and Program Director for the American Academy of Diplomacy. During his career, he served as Ambassador to Peru, Kuwait, Nicaragua and the Central African Republican. Quainton is a graduate of Princeton University and Oxford University, which he attended as a Marshall Scholar.

During the commencement ceremony, Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D., La Roche College President, presented the 2006 President’s Award for Leadership and Scholarship. This award is the most prestigious honor offered to undergraduate students of the College and is presented to two graduating students, a traditional-aged student and a nontraditional-aged student, who have exemplary academic records, who exemplify the values and characteristics of the College’s mission statement, and who are effective leaders either on campus, in the workplace, or in the community. This year’s winners were Eucario Bakale, traditional student, and Janice Setzenfand, nontraditional student.
