The next generation of La Roche College students received a warm welcome to campus on Sunday, November 2 when the College hosted the largest open house for prospective freshman in La Roche's history. More than 250 people attended the event, held on the College's East Campus.
"We were thrilled with the turnout and the quality of prospective students that attended," said Thomas Schaefer, Ph.D., assistant vice president for academic affairs. Schaefer took over leadership of the Division of Enrollment Management in September, which includes the Office of Freshman and International Admissions and the Office of Admissions for Graduate and Continuing Education. His first charge was to adopt a new recruitment model, one that more readily employs technology.
"We are relying heavily on electronic communication because that's what young people are using," said Schaefer, who added that such methods allow admissions counselors to introduce prospects to the College's new public website.
At the open house, prospective students and their parents were able to take campus tours and attend sessions on admissions and financial aid. They could also meet with professors from many of the College's academic disciplines.
