The Interior Design and Graphic & Communication Design departments will be sharing spaces in our Fall 2008 move. Students of both departments will be pivotal in determining the functionality and visual appeal of the new spaces. The departments' design charrette was the first step in this process, which wrapped up recently.

The process started with the kick-off event on Aug. 30, which successfully boasted over 170 ID and G&CD students in attendance. The second phase of the charrette concluded Sept. 20, and resulted in over 100 responses and reviews from students, faculty, staff and administration.

The Aug. 30 charrette kick-off encouraged student participation and idea generation in a large group brainstorming session. ID and G&CD majors then worked in groups to further develop ideas and establish a conceptual framework for the future spaces.

Fourteen groups presented their work at the charrette review on Sept. 19 and 20. The college community evaluated the groups' interpretations of the new spaces and helped to determine the seven projects that are continuing on for further development. As we move forward, the process continues with design development, branding and additional critiques. Stay tuned for further updates!
