Residents of Pittsburgh’s North Hills ushered in the 2005 holiday season with the annual “Festival of Lights” celebration, co-sponsored by La Roche College, the Sisters of Divine Providence and UPMC Passavant. Hundreds of families visited all three campuses on
Friday, December 2, for holiday food and entertainment.

“This annual event has become a holiday tradition for many people in the local community,” noted Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D., La Roche president. “The College is proud to be a longtime co-sponsor.”

On the La Roche campus, families with young children participated in a number of activities at the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center, including tattoo art, balloon-making, cookie decorating and games. Sigma Theta Tau, La Roche College’s nursing honor society, presented its annual craft show featuring pieces from many local artisans. The show was held in the Zappala College Center.

The Office of Alumni Affairs hosted its third annual “Alumni Holiday Reception” during “Festival of Lights.” Alumni and their families were invited to a hospitality tent
in front of Wright Library, where they could enjoy some complimentary refreshments and take home a holiday treat for their children.

“The alumni reception at ‘Festival of Lights’ has turned into an annual homecoming for many alumni and their families,” said Rose Woolley, director of the annual fund and
development information systems. “We were thrilled with this year’s turnout.”

People who attended this year’s “Festival of Lights” were also treated to a fireworks display in the skies above campus, courtesy of Zambelli Fireworks Internationale.
