WHEN IN ROME

Students at La Roche College will soon have the opportunity to study in Rome. On March 26, La Roche joined five other colleges in the area and the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education in signing an international partnership agreement with the American University of Rome (AUR). The agreement allows students at the six colleges to attend classes at AUR and take field trips to cities like Venice and Pompeii.

"Wherever we go in life, we're going to have to understand other nations. We're going to have to reach out to other cultures," said Margaret Melady, president of AUR. "Students can sit in a classroom and understand the need for globalization. But, they need to travel, to open up their eyes and their senses."

Students can begin applying to the program in January 2003. They will be able to earn up to 15 credits during their semester in Rome.
