La Roche College raised nearly $70,000 at the seventh annual Presidential Scholarship Dinner, held at the Hilton Pittsburgh on Sunday, February 24. More than 300 guests attended the dinner and silent auction. The La Roche College Board of Regents sponsors the gala event, which is the principal fundraiser for the Presidential Scholarship Fund. The fund benefits academically gifted students at La Roche College.

Celebrity hostess for the evening was Sheila Hyland, weekday anchor for WPGH-TV. The keynote speaker was Jim Rohr, president, chairman and CEO of The PNC Financial Services Group. Mrs. Dolores Bold, honorary chairperson for the event, made a $25,000 matching donation to the scholarship fund.

Co-chairpersons for the Presidential Scholarship Dinner were Carol Leet, vice president for strategic planning and implementation for The PNC Financial Services Group, and Patricia Schneider, director of marketing and public relations for Bill Few Associates.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on more than 100 items in the silent auction, including entertainment packages and exquisite artifacts from Africa and the Middle East. The featured item was a one-week trip for two to Jordan, donated by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, first lady of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
