| Excellence Awards |
| The annual La Roche College Employee Recognition Breakfast took on added meaning this year. For the first time in the College's history, a staff member and a faculty member were chosen to receive Excellence Awards for outstanding dedication and service to the College. Staff, faculty and administrators gathered to honor the winners on Wednesday, April 17 in the Cantellops Dining Hall.
The winner of the Excellence award for the faculty was Lynn Archer, academic dean. Rose Cheriton, a longtime switchboard operator, won the Excellence Award designated for staff members. Both Archer and Cheriton received plaques honoring them for their service to the College. A committee of staff and faculty chose the winners for this year's excellence awards from a pool of nominees.
George Zaffuto, executive director of administrative and human resources, also presented awards to employees based on their years of service at the College.

| Annual Golf Outing |
| Nearly 140 golfers participated in the 2002 Pepsi/ La Roche College Golf Out-ing, held on June 3 at Wildwood Country Club in Allison Park, PA. The eleventh annual event raised more than $20,000 for athletic programs at La Roche College. Honorary chairperson for the event was Mr. James Delligatti, a member of the La Roche College Board of Trustees.

| Forum On Terrorism |
| On Wednesday, April 17, La Roche College and the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary co-sponsored a program called "Targeting Terrorism: What are the Costs to Our Freedoms?". It was held at the Hicks Memorial Chapel Auditorium at the seminary. The evening's key-note speaker was Dr. David Little, a noted Harvard University professor. Panel respondents included: Dan Simpson, associate editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; and Lisa Freeland, assistant federal public defender with the ACLU.

| Applied Ethics Certificate |
| The College has approved a new certificate program in applied ethics. The La Roche College Center for the Study of Ethics (CSE) will supervise the program, which is available through the College's religious studies and philosophy departments. Students who enroll will take six credit hours of core ethics courses, six credits of upper level applied ethics courses, attend six hours of CSE sessions and submit a scholarly research project.

| Real Estate Major |
| With the help of the Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, La Roche College will soon become the only institution of higher learning in Southwestern Pennsylvania to offer a major in real estate. The intention is to offer specialized training for people who want to enter this growing field with significant earning potential. Classes will begin in January 2003. The Realtors Association has pledged assistance in helping to secure grants to support this new program.

| Athletic Recognition Night |
| La Roche College athletes attended the school's annual Athletic Recog-nition Night on April 28. This year's event took place at PNC Park's Home Plate Club. Ath-letes from the College's 11 varsity sports attended and were recognized for academic and athletic achievement.
