Meeting the needs of students has always been important to Lynn Archer, academic dean and associate professor of communication, media and information technology. An instructor at La Roche since 1988, Archer is adding another role to her identity at the College. Monsignor William Kerr recently appointed her vice president for Pacem In Terris.
"There are new challenges with every position, and I find each one to be an exciting new opportunity," said Archer. "I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with so many facets of the College."
Archer's new position will allow her to focus on the international students at La Roche to determine if the College is effectively meeting their curricular needs. Archer will continue to serve as academic dean for the College and will teach two classes in the fall. Her new responsibilities offer the chance to interact with students from many different countries. She enjoys the unique opportunities that the Pacem in Terris program provides for all La Roche students.
"Our ability to bring students from conflict and post-conflict regions allows us to enhance life through education," said Archer. "Our American students also gain great benefit from living, studying and interacting with students of so many cultures."
Archer, the mother of four children, is also working to finish her Ed.D. in instructional design and technology at the University of Pittsburgh. She hopes to have her degree within the year.
