When students return to La Roche College this fall, they will quickly notice that the campus is growing. Construction on an expansion to Bold Hall and the completion of a new academic wing to the Zappala College Center are two major components of Phase One of the college's master plan.
Dedication ceremonies for the Zappala College Center extension are set for Monday, August 26, one day prior to the start of classes for the fall semester. The dedication will come nearly a year after crews first broke ground for the $5.5 million addition. The 33,000 square foot building will house 13 general-purpose classrooms, two seminar rooms, 13 faculty offices, and two computer laboratories. It will also house an enlarged college bookstore. Thanks to a federal grant awarded in January of this year, a dozen of the new classrooms will be wired for telecommunications, data transmissions, Internet access and cable television.
Also on the East Campus, construc-tion crews have laid the foundation for what will be an expansion to Bold Hall, one of the four residence halls on campus. The expansion will help the College meet a growing need for on-campus housing. It has a capacity for nearly 200 students, plus several apartments and offices. The College expects to open the new wing of Bold Hall in April of 2003.
