TWO PITTSBURGH-AREA WOMEN AWARDED LA ROCHE COLLEGE’S
2012 OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD IN NURSING
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (June 22, 2012) – La Roche College’s Outstanding Alumni Award in Nursing was recently awarded to Susan Hoolahan ’91 and to Juanita Hogan ’87.
Hoolahan, a resident of Pittsburgh, has 29 years of progressive nursing experience. In 2009, under her direction, UPMC St Margaret’s Hospital was awarded magnet status in recognition of the hospital’s strong commitment to excellence in every aspect of nursing care and leadership. Presently, Hoolahan is the chief nursing officer and vice president for patient care services at UPMC Passavant Hospital. She also functions as the operations officer for the McCandless and Cranberry campuses.
Hoolahan is a recipient of the Leading with Wisdom Award sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (2008), and the first University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Magnet Designation Award (2009). She is also a magnet appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Hogan, a resident of Wexford, PA, has been a school nurse in the Pittsburgh public school system for 20 years. She has served on the National Program and Policy Council of the American Federation of Teachers and as co-chair of AFT’s school health subcommittee. She has served on the executive board of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers. Hogan is the winner of the 2009 School Nurse Excellence Award for the Western Pennsylvania region, which is awarded by the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses in six regions.
