LA ROCHE COLLEGE ALUM HONORED BY THE PENNSYLVANIA INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS
1/30/2013

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 30, 2013 – The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) recently awarded 2010 La Roche College graduate George Githiaka a $3,000-level multiyear scholarship.

The PICPA Student Scholarship is awarded to full-time students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or are currently pursuing one, are preparing for the CPA exam, and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Originally from Kenya, Githiaka graduated from La Roche with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and management. Currently he is a student at Point Park University and will graduate with a master’s in organizational leadership in May 2013. Githiaka plans to pursue a career in public accounting.

Githiaka credits La Roche College’s supportive atmosphere as the foundation for his academic and career success. “The environment made me believe that I can live my life to be the best I possibly can at whatever I choose,” he said. “I would not be where I am today without La Roche College.”
