About the Program

Study Abroad + Study USA Brochure (PDF)

Established in 2009, the innovative Study Abroad+Study USA program is a unique experience offered to qualified La Roche students who would like to broaden their horizons and marketability in an ever expanding global workplace.

After completing 60 La Roche credits and meeting all eligibility requirements as set forth in the program guidelines, a student may apply for a travel course either internationally or domestically. This experience is offered as a value added component of a La Roche education and there are no additional costs for the trip itself. Students are responsible for incidentals, passport cost, visas, and spending money.

Each trip is a course and is offered for credit. If you participate in the travel during the regular academic year (fall through spring semesters) and your travel course is taken as part of the 18 credits allotted for the semester, there is no additional credit charge. Travel courses that are taken in Maymester or Summer Semester are charged for the credits at the established Summer tuition rate. For 2010 the rate was a discounted $475 per credit. For example, if you take a one-credit travel course to Spain in May, you would be charged $475 for the credit and there is NO additional cost for the travel component. All programs are short term (usually 1 to 3 weeks in duration) and students are eligible to participate in one travel program. Students who wish to participate in multiple trips must pay full cost for the additional trips. Non-La Roche students/guests may apply to participate; however, participation for non-La Roche students/guests will be determined by the faculty leader.

You may choose from an abroad experience in Central America, Europe or Canada or choose to remain here in the United States and explore the riches of the Navajo Nation in the southwest.

The unique intercultural experiences offered through the Study Abroad+Study USA Program greatly distinguishes La Roche from other colleges and universities and allows you to gain a cultural learning experience that lasts a lifetime—all this while pursuing your undergraduate degree at an excellent educational facility.

All travel courses are Faculty led. Courses are listed in the website by date of travel. For more information about the course you may contact the Study Abroad+Study USA Office or speak directly with the listed Faculty Leader.

Full-time transfer students who enroll at La Roche with less than 79 credits are eligible to participate in the program after they have earned 30 La Roche credits. These students are required to pay a program fee of $1,450 for 2011 if they wish to participate.
