Le Blanc, Ph.D.
Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences
As a teacher of history and accomplished author, Paul Le Blanc, Ph.D., has become a vital member of the La Roche community. Le Blanc joined the staff at La Roche College in 1992. Prior to his appointment as Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Le Blanc was an associate professor of history and chair of the Division of Humanities at La Roche. He received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
An accomplished author, Le Blanc has written several books, including A Short History of the U.S. Working Class (Amherst, NY: Humanity Books, 1999). One reviewer called it "a must for all students of U.S. labor history." He has also given scholarly presentations at conferences in Britain, China, France, India, the Netherlands , South Africa and the United States.
Le Blanc believes that La Roche has undertaken an important mission in its efforts to forge a global community of learners.
"The dawn of the 21st century is characterized by an acceleration of the globalization process," said Le Blanc. "Many who enter the job market with little more than limited technical expertise in one occupation or another will soon find themselves overwhelmed by social realities. They'll be bypassed by economic developments for which they are not prepared. The challenge of the school of arts and sciences is to equip our students for effective engagement with the world around us."
