The La Roche Approach Beginning with human experience, students and faculty engage in probing the answers that have been proposed over the centuries for the meaning of life. Students can expect to be guided as they reflect critically on a range of different kinds of text, primarily those in written form, but in some cases, other media including films, visual arts, performance, and monuments. They will be lead to demonstrate expertise in textual analysis, religio /philosophical argument, awareness of different faith and theoretical positions, historical analysis, and contextualization. They will be challenged in their search as they engage in a critical and constructive dialogue with the traditions of religio /philosophical scholarship, analyze and evaluate others' contributions to the traditions and begin to create their original contributions.

Members of La Roche's faculty who teach religious studies and philosophy are a diverse group of teachers and scholars. Grounded in the Catholic tradition, their areas of expertise include ethics, justice and peace, spirituality, Scripture, World Religions and ministry.
What Can I Do With My Degree?
Majoring in religious studies, or taking religious studies and philosophy courses, provides valuable appreciation for careers in business, counseling, education, government, journalism, law, ministry, medicine, and social work. It also contributes to individual and social enrichment through expanding an appreciative awareness of one's own religious tradition and those of others.
