The La Roche College Graphic & Communication
Design Department’s Residence Learning Community
Overview
Welcome to the first La Roche College Graphic & Communication
Design Department’s Residence Learning Community.
A unique learning experience for our department’s
students that further separates our program from
other Graphic & Communication Design Departments.
La Roche College is a leader in academics and forward
thinking in education and this new learning community
continues that tradition. The new La Roche College
Graphic & Communication Design Department’s
Residence Learning Community will begin in the Fall
07 term. It will be a community of Graphic & Communication
Design students that will live, learn, work and share
in exclusive events targeted specifically to the
Graphic & Communication Design profession. These
students will also be a part of the growth and direction
of the Residence learning community.
The Residence Learning community will be limited
to 20 students living in an exclusive block of rooms
ranging from Freshman through Seniors. These students
will have access to a common workspace that will
be available only to the 20 students that are a part
of the community. This community space will be available
for work, critiques and events. There will be a faculty
office adjacent to the community space where students
can meet and review with faculty within the Residence
Learning Community. Students will also be required
to attend as well as organize special events that
are only available to these special students. All
of this is a first for the La Roche College campus.
Graphic & Communication Design students interested
in being a part of this Residence Learning Community
should begin the process by applying online. Each
student will be required to submit QPA/SAT scores,
a personal essay explaining why they should be considered
admission into this community and contributions the
student could make as well as submitting a sample
portfolio of work. Each student accepted into this
program will be required to attend and plan a certain
number of events, maintain a proper grade point average,
maintain a proper presence on campus as well as reapply
each term for acceptance into the community.
The Graphic & Communication Design Department’s
Residence Learning Community is a very special and
unique opportunity for our students. This community
will further define our program and our students
as being a premier Graphic & Communication Design
program in the region. Please continue and begin
the application process and if you have any questions
please contact the Graphic & Communication Design
Department at gcd@laroche.edu
or call 412-536-1023. Thank You.
