Housing Information
When will I receive my housing information? You will receive your housing letter, including your room assignment and your roommates contact information by the third week of July.
What size bed sheets should I buy? All of our mattresses are regular twin size mattresses.
Where do I find the housing application? The housing application is online at
Do I have to have a meal plan? Yes, all resident students are required to have a meal plan.
What are the rooms equipped with? Each room has a bed, dresser, desk and a desk chair for each student that the room was designed to house. Each room also includes a mini micro-fridge.
What should I do if my Internet doesn't work? If you are having difficulties with the Internet not working in your room, call La Roche College's personal number for Internet help through Comcast at 1-800-576-5330. State that you are a La Roche College student, and make sure to get the name of the Comcast representative that you speak with. Note: You, as a La Roche College student, will not have to pay for Comcast service, because it is included in your tuition. Do not agree to any payments, or give your credit card number.
How do I check my voicemail? Dial 2000 from a campus phone. Enter your room extension, followed by #. Enter your password (this is typically the same as your extension) followed by #. Follow the prompts given by the operator. In order to reset your password, you should report this to the Residence Life Office.
Policies
What is the alcohol policy? La Roche College recognizes that the misuse and abuse of alcohol is a serious issue affecting college students, the community and our society. It is well-established that misconduct such as vandalism, physical assault, excessive noise, and other misbehavior results primarily from the misuse and/or abuse of alcohol by students and their guests. The purpose of this policy therefore is to foster the growth and development of the student by promoting an alcohol-free environment. This policy is intended to reflect La Roche College's commitment to the principles, goals, and ideas described in the College's Mission Statement.
La Roche College students and/or their guests, regardless of age, are not permitted to use alcoholic beverages in the residence halls or on campus grounds. Students who are knowingly present during a violation of this policy are subject to the procedures and sanctions listed below.
La Roche College students who are at least 21 years of age are permitted to use alcoholic beverages on or off campus are subject to disciplinary action. La Roche College students are expected to assume total responsibility for their own behavior and that of their guests and to comply with the laws of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania regarding alcohol.
In cases involving the use of alcoholic beverages by an individual who is under the age of 21, there is the potential for prosecution through the local courts.
Will the College notify my parents? The College may notify the student's parent(s) or guardian when disciplinary action is taken as a result of alcoholic beverage policy violation.
Can I burn candles in my room? Candles an incense are not permitted in the residence halls.
What is the tobacco policy? The use of tobacco products is absolutely prohibited in all campus buildings, campus vehicles, sidewalks, parking lots (with exception for smoking in personal vehicle), driveways and entrances to the buildings. This includes the use of smokeless tobacco.
Can I have a guest stay overnight? As each resident has the right to comfort and privacy in the use of their suite, the privilege of entertaining guests is a negotiable agreement between suitemates. The host/hostess must be willing to accept full responsibility for the conduct of their guest(s). Any guest involved in a violation of the handbook will be banned from the residence halls. Guests of the same sex may be invited to stay overnight, provided that the RA on duty is notified and permits a guest pass, prior to 11 p.m. on the night of the visit. The pass must bear the signature of the guest, the host/hostess, and the authorizing Residence Life staff member. All suitemates must agree to host the overnight guest. An overnight guest's stay may not exceed two consecutive nights, and may not be more frequent than once per month. All overnight guests must be at least 15 years of age. All visitors in the residence halls who are not registered to stay overnight must leave the residence halls by 1 a.m. and may return to visit at 9 a.m. Any visitors who are opposite-sex of the residents of the room in which they are visiting must be out of that room by 1 a.m. NO EXCEPTIONS.
What is the sexual misconduct policy? La Roche College is a community of people dedicated to academic achievement and personal development. The College endorses and supports values developed in the Catholic tradition and recognizes that community living on campus demands commonly accepted standards of conduct. Sexual misconduct is a violation of these standards.
For the purpose of this statement, sexual misconduct is generally defined as intercourse or indecent conduct (i.e. touching of sexual or other intimate parts of a person for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire), which occurs on campus between individuals who are not married. Infractions of this statement will be considered violations of the College's Student Code of Conduct and adjudicated accordingly.
Does it cost more to stay on campus during a break? Spring break, Thanksgiving break and Winter break are not included in your room and board charge. Therefore, if you plan to stay in the residence halls during these breaks you will incur an additional cost of $15 per day per room or $25 per day for room and board. You must sign up to stay in the Residence Life office prior to the break. If you stay on campus and do not sign up through the Residence Life office you will be fined $50.
How do I make a room change? The Office of Residence Life must authorize all room changes. Students are not permitted to change rooms without first requesting and receiving approval from the Coordinator of Housing and Residence Life. Any resident who does not adhere to the following protocol may be subject to disciplinary action. There will be no room changes granted during the first two weeks of a semester. This period of time allows the residents of the room to get to know one another, and acclimate their behavior so that they can co-exist with other students in a living environment.
If after this period, residents conclude that they may not be compatible as roommates, they must have a room mediation meeting with a Resident Assistant. The RA will then meet with a Residence Life administrator to discuss the conflict and resolution.
If after the room mediation no resolution has been concluded, the residents of the room will be contacted to meet with the Coordinator of Residence Life. After this meeting, the Coordinator will decide upon a course of action that will efficiently address any conflict that may exist within a room and authorize any room changes that will take place.
