Hello! My name is Matt Whetsell. I am the president of your Student Government Association. By reading this, you must have a curiosity or interest in becoming involved on campus or wanting to learn more about Student Life at La Roche. Am I right? Of course! The first step in becoming a true college student is to embrace the opportunities and fun La Roche has to offer. Trust me, there is a LOT available! Everything from offering your time to help out our community, to enjoying a mocktail while listening to your fellow students embarrass themselves in karaoke. Whatever you choose to do, you will gain something from it.
Joining an organization is another possibility for you to further your college experience! Students run these organizations, and with your help, your creative ideas and skills will develop these clubs and organizations for the future. It is up to you to shape the destiny you have laid out in front of you, and the destiny of any club or organization you may be a part of. You can run for an office, put it on your resume, learn new skills, and share skills you posses to the rest of the group. You have no idea what your potential is until you test it by becoming part of something.
Finally, there really is no limit to what you can do on campus. However, you set the limits, and you choose how much you wish to be involved. Be wise and don’t overwhelm yourselves, but at the same time, DO NOT sit around and do nothing! College is not only an institution where you can earn a degree, but also a place for personal development that will help you find success and happiness in life wherever you decide to go.
